Hennessey Hammock Expedition Review
Love overnight hikes? Hate heavy gear? Well then kind sir/lady, I’ve got the thing just for you! This hammock is a perfect alternative to sleeping on cold ground with an uncomfortable matt in a pretty expensive ultra light hiking tent…. And I don’t mean the Coleman Hooligan 2. This thing is so light and so small, it allows you to bring more stuff that matter the most – like extra rum!
It’s very easy to set up. Make sure you purchase sneak skin with your hammock! It allowed you to keep the hammock clean and protected from elements. Pick 2 trees and tie it up… That’s pretty much it.
No need to worry about bugs since the hammock comes with mash net attached to it… which is a great and yet annoying thing. Since the net is not detachable, you are forced to climb in it through a velcro opening on the bottom. It’s also a pain in the butt to properly set up bedding if you are camping out during cool weather.
Get the rain tarp! Why wouldn’t you? No one likes to be awaken at 3 am by a thunderstorm and nowhere to hide. I got a chance to catch an April sale a few years ago and got 2 rain tarps for the price of one.
Keep an eye out for sale from the Hennessey hammock website. Got 1 tarp designed for light rain and another for heavy rain. Both are very effective to what they are designed for.
Overall, awesome product. I’d highly recommend it to everyone who is into overnight hikes or bike rides. I even take it to campgrounds when travelling without my lady. It is comfortable for only one person. Two people would feel like two slices of ham stuffed between lettuce, tomato, and two whole wheat bums.
