Coleman 8-Person Montana Tent Review
This tent is huge! Coleman designed this tent for 8 people and it’s doable but it’ll be crowded. I’ve barely managed to fit in 7 sleeping bags without them being on top of each other.
Replicate that with full size adults and it’s going to get crammed very quickly. I think this tent would be suited best for 6 people. This way you can have 3 people sleep on each side with plenty of space between each other.
Storage in this tent is laughable to say the least. It’s designed for “eight people” but only has 2 small mesh pockets. Guess where everyone’s flashlights, books, sell phones, wallets, etc going to go… on the floor next to them.
The door is a door and it’s dope! It has a bent pole in that helps it keep shape and swing the way it does. This is really handy and I wish more campground tents would embrace this design. It’s a really neat feuture that you’d think would only be available on more pricier brands (….looking at you REI Kingdom 4)
This tent sports a decently sized window on the door and two narrow windows on the sides. However this is not enough to keep this tent properly ventilated for the amount of people it is anticipating to house. Having a window across the door would have maximized the air flow gradually.
Setting this thing up is not what one would call quick and painless. It is recommended that you have a friend (or two) to help you out. Between a buddy of mine and I, it took solid 45 minutes to set this tent up for the first time. Kee that info handy when you roll into the campground in the middle of the night 😉
